Day 11 Update

Reminder: New Pledge Levels added

We’ve had some fans requesting more options for getting their name in the 7th edition book at lower pledge levels. We have now added new pledge levels at $80, $95, and $150 where you can get your name or your character's name worked into the Battlelord's universe as a weapon, mega-corp, or mercenary company! Take a look!

Ultra Armor & High-End Toys

Battlelords has always had that “grunt in the trenches” feel. Characters undertrained and under-equipped to handle the threats thrown at them, but persevering through sheer skill, ingenuity, and determination. That theme continues to run through Battlelords, though even the antiquated equipment of your typical grunt or merc may be a little more advanced than anything we have today. Overcoming the odds can be some of the most rewarding experiences in a roleplaying game session, and we’ve had more than our fair share of laughs watching our characters, who were hopelessly out of their depth comically succeed at a mission. “I’m not trained for this.” should be embroidered on the back of every SSDC jumpsuit.

However, what we also learned was that some players wanted to actually use those state-of-the-art toys, rather than just have them serve as a constant reminder of how their team is ill-equipped. As a result, one of the changes we’ve made to the game is that gear is no longer solely viewed as a reward to be obtained when a character advances. Rather gear is presented on a spectrum of available play options. If you still want to play a under-equipped grunt in the trenches with hand-me-down armor you can definitely do that. If you want to play a team of Alliance military Ultra Armor pilots on the Arachnid front, you can do that as well.

Playing a mercenary who salvages gear from wherever they find it can be a lot of fun. If you’d rather play a Galactic Marine in standard issue mechanized battle armor, you can do that too. The universe is a big place and we wanted to build a game where you’d be able to play whatever you think will be the most fun. So now you know why we put the walking tanks (aka Ultra Armor) back in the core rules.

Be sure to spread the word about our Kickstarter to anyone you think would enjoy playing Battlelords of the 23rd Century.
